As Pluto moves direct in Capricorn for the last time, we stand on the precipice of profound change, closing a chapter that began in 2008. Pluto’s journey through Capricorn has reshaped the foundations of our world—tearing down outdated structures, challenging systems of power, and forcing us to confront what no longer serves us. Now, at the critical 29° degree of Capricorn, known as the anaretic degree, the intensity of Pluto’s lessons reaches its peak.
Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, is relentless in its mission. It compels us to face the uncomfortable truths, to dismantle the facades, and to let go of what we’ve outgrown. For many, myself included, these final degrees have been a period of grief, loss, and reckoning. Yet, through this destruction comes the opportunity for something new to emerge. The ruins of the past serve as the fertile ground upon which we are meant to rebuild.
We find ourselves at a crossroads, feeling a potent mix of emotions—grief for what has been lost, gratitude for the hard-won clarity, and anticipation for what lies ahead. The polarity of Pluto’s energy reminds us that in order for rebirth to occur, there must first be a death. As we prepare for Pluto’s transition into Aquarius, a new era of radical innovation and interconnectedness awaits us. This shift invites us to reconsider how we live, how we govern, and how we care for each other in ways that honor both individual and collective growth.
In the wake of this cosmic upheaval, life for many has become unrecognizable. The path forward may feel uncertain and unclear, but within that uncertainty lies immense potential. The people, relationships, and communities that have endured this tumultuous time are the ones that will support your next phase of evolution. Together, you will co-create the future. Though we have a long way to go, we are moving forward, with cosmic energies reconfiguring around us, guiding us toward new beginnings. The dawn of this new chapter is upon us—one that promises greater alignment with our deepest purpose and potential.
Crisis as Catalyst: The Lessons of Hurricane Helene
The recent devastation brought by Hurricane Helene offers a real-world reflection of Pluto’s work in Capricorn. Lives were lost, livelihoods shattered, and essential infrastructure—power, water, sanitation, food, medicine—was obliterated. What once seemed secure in the material realm was wiped out in an instant. What remains after such a crisis? The stark realization that when the systems we’ve built fail us, it is the strength of our human connections that endures. The bonds of community, solidarity, and compassion become the lifelines through which survival and rebuilding are made possible.
For those directly impacted by this hurricane, the experience has brought a forced re-evaluation of what truly matters. Amidst the devastation, a deeper truth has emerged: we are the ones who must save ourselves, and each other. The crisis has compelled people to step up, show up, and support one another in ways that weren’t necessary before. A new sense of community is being forged through shared hardship, resilience, and mutual care.
The lessons of Hurricane Helene mirror Pluto’s cosmic mission: the destruction of the old to make way for the new. The structures we once relied upon—whether governmental, social, or material—have proven to be fragile and unsustainable. What the hurricane has revealed is that our future can no longer be built on the same shaky ground. Instead, we are called to create something new, something rooted in reciprocity, sustainability, and a deeper awareness of our interdependence with each other and the planet.
Pluto in Aquarius: Revolutionizing the Future
As Pluto transitions into Aquarius, the energy of revolution, innovation, and human-centered progress will dominate the collective landscape. Aquarius, the sign of the visionary, challenges us to think beyond traditional frameworks and explore new ways of being. It asks us to imagine a future where individual freedom is balanced with collective responsibility—where the needs of the many are met without sacrificing the autonomy of the individual.
This is the work that Pluto in Aquarius will demand of us: to dismantle outdated systems and rebuild in ways that honor the interconnectedness of all things. Just as those in North Carolina and other disaster-stricken areas are coming together to rebuild their lives, we too, as a collective, must come together to reimagine how we live, how we care for each other, and how we honor the earth that sustains us.
The challenges we face—whether cosmic or earthly—are immense, but they also offer us an opportunity for transformation. Through the destruction of old systems and the crises that shake us to our core, we are being given the chance to rebuild in a way that aligns with the wisdom we have gained through these experiences. The road ahead may be long, but we are moving forward—toward a future that is radically different, deeply connected, and more aligned with the truth of who we are.
As we witness the people of North Carolina— some whom I call my soul family—grapple with both the grief and gratitude that come from such profound loss, we see the seeds of a new beginning taking root. In their resilience, in their shared humanity, we find the blueprint for our own collective rebirth. This is the path Pluto in Aquarius sets before us: one of transformation, revolution, and the emergence of a new way of being.
Resourcing Ourselves Through Crisis and Transformation
As we face moments of profound loss, crisis, or change, one of the most critical questions becomes: How do we resource ourselves through it? In these moments, whether during a hurricane or in the transformative wake of Pluto’s transit, the shock of loss ripples through every aspect of our being—mind, body, spirit, and beyond. We are living in physical, spiritual, energetic, and ethereal dimensions, and no part of us remains untouched. We are initiated into an alchemical process, one that strips away the layers we've built up for survival, revealing the core of who we are.
What does it mean to be resourced?
To be resourced is to have access to the internal and external support systems that allow us to stay grounded, connected, and capable of navigating life's most turbulent moments. It’s about knowing how to tend to each part of ourselves—our physical bodies, our emotional states, our spiritual connections, and our energetic fields. Being resourced also means understanding that in moments of profound shock or grief, our first instinct may be to disconnect or numb ourselves. Resourcing is the conscious choice to come back into connection, to show up for ourselves, and bring us back to center.
How do we resource ourselves in crisis, in loss, in grief, in change?
My firsthand experience with loss has always begun with shock—an all-encompassing, whole-body experience. No part of who and what we are is left untouched. The mind races, the body tenses, the spirit feels disconnected, and energetically, we feel scattered across time and space. It is in these moments that resourcing ourselves becomes vital. How do we tend to all of these elements of ourselves, peeling back the layers that have muddied the waters of our being into a state of survival?
Breath: A Return to Presence
One of the simplest yet most profound practices for resourcing ourselves is the act of breath. Breath is the anchor that brings us back into our bodies, into the present moment. When we are in a state of shock, our minds tend to race ahead, projecting into an unknown future, while our bodies remain tense with fear. Breath reconnects these two. I encourage you to initiate this as often as possible—set a gentle alarm to remind yourself to take a mindful breath every 15 minutes. In moments of anxiety, when your thoughts are racing forward to all the 'what ifs' and 'to-dos,' the breath can pull you back into your body, into the here and now.
Every astrology reading or grief session I hold begins with this simple practice: reconnecting to breath. It is the reset we all need—a way of coming home to our bodies and creating space for presence in the midst of chaos.
Shaking: Releasing Stuck Energy
Another powerful way to resource ourselves is through movement—specifically, shaking. This primal practice allows us to release the stuck energy that accumulates in our bodies during times of crisis or fear. Taking five minutes to shake out every limb, starting with your feet and working your way up through your legs, hips, belly, heart, shoulders, and arms, can be an incredible way to move energy that has become stagnant. Let your body move freely, releasing the fear, tension, and energy that no longer serve you.
Nature Offering: An Energetic Game Changer
Another beautiful way to resource yourself and ground your energy is to offer something back to nature. Find a natural object—perhaps a stone, flower, leaf, or twig—and blow all of your prayers, gratitudes, and intentions into it. Then, gift it back to the earth. This small, simple act of reciprocity can be an energetic game changer, bringing balance and a sense of release to your spirit.
Other Practices for Resourcing Ourselves
In addition to breath, movement, and nature offerings, there are many ways to resource ourselves during times of loss and transformation. Some ideas include:
Grounding: Spend time in nature, place your feet on the earth, or use visualization techniques to imagine roots extending from your body into the ground. This practice helps to center and stabilize your energy.
Rest: Allow yourself time to rest, without guilt. Crisis and grief are exhausting, and your body needs time to recharge. Prioritize sleep, quiet time, and moments of stillness.
Creative Expression: Write, paint, sing, or dance. Creative outlets can provide a way to process emotions that may feel too overwhelming to express in words.
Community Connection: Reach out to loved ones or support networks. Grief and crisis can be isolating, but connection with others can remind you that you are not alone.
Energetic Cleansing: Whether through baths with salt, smudging with sage, or visualizing a cleansing light around your body, these practices can help clear out emotional or energetic residue.
In times of transformation, it is crucial to honor all parts of ourselves and to recognize that this process is not linear. The shock of change can feel all-encompassing, but through conscious practices of resourcing, we can tend to our minds, bodies, spirits, and energies in ways that support us through the journey. As we stand at the threshold of a new era, both individually and collectively, these practices remind us of our power to return to ourselves and rebuild—stronger, clearer, and more connected to our true essence.
